First Light (Pt. 3)

Description

“Reflections” is a twin series inspired by the glimmers of light on the sky and the sea during sunset and sunrise. It is a remembrance of past experiences and an acceptance of goings and endings. It is an expectancy of a bright future and an anticipation of comings and new beginnings.

Special Note:

These 8×8 minis come in 2 variations. The other 4-part series, Chasing Light, were all finished at the same time. This, however, were quite challenging and parts 3 & 4 were actually the last ones to get done in the entire collection. For some reason, I didn’t know how to finish them, so I kept on adding layers. Putting all four parts together is like seeing an evolution instead of a whole. You can just see how the paint thickens with each piece. I almost pulled them out because I felt like they looked a little different and no longer cohesive. But then I thought, isn’t it unfair to discard certain pieces just because they look different when they have a story of their own? Looking at them now, with all their layers, these last pieces glimmer the most.
