Currents

Layers upon layers of countless additions and subtractions on what started as a one-piece experiment, that turned into eleven art pieces. It took me more than a year to complete this collection. It involved innumerable trials and errors to figure out the techniques that will give me the results that I was aiming for. It required a lot of determination and resolve to go on especially on days when I felt stuck and incapable.

I wanted a representation of the ocean - painted through irregular lines and flows, without being too detailed but will still manifest an impression of calm and crashing waves. This was a long overdue collection that went through changes and phases in the past year, just like me.

“Currents” represents the highs and lows, ups and downs, the smooth and rough sails of this voyage. If you are going through a rough journey, I hope these pieces could inspire you and give you the strength to keep going and believe that those waves only get bigger to make you stronger. Aim to be like the ocean - storms and waves may crash on the surface, but you will find peace and calm when you dive into the deep.

And remember this: although life consists of uncharted waters, we can be still and rest in the One who calms the sea.
